Big Brother Canada bounds to new heights with a supersized season

February 29, 2020

Big Brother Canada bounds to new heights with a supersized season where 16 Canadians embark on an unforgettable and extraordinary journey. Debuting Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. ET/PT, this season’s houseguests face the biggest test yet: an extended season lasting two extra weeks – creating more hours spent in the house than ever before, allowing for more challenges, more twists, and of course…more drama! Whether it is physical strength, mental prowess, or social dominance, houseguests must hone in on their super strengths – and perhaps even morph their identities – to become the ultimate winner and claim the BBCAN8 title!

This season is the origin story of Big Brother Canada’s next batch of superheroes and they come from all walks of life including: a blue collar lobster fisherman and first-ever houseguest from P.E.I.; a powerlifting champ and father of two from Alberta; a risk-taking, self-proclaimed chameleon from Quebec; a professional wrestler who prides himself on his strong mental endurance from Ontario; a tough and determined disability caregiver from British Columbia; and a “brain transformation specialist” from Ontario.

Starting today until Saturday, February 29, Canada has the power to keep their favourite houseguests safe from the first eviction by voting on BigBrotherCanada.ca. Fans can vote as often as they like to attempt to save their favourite houseguests. Then, watch the voting results play out during the premiere on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. ET/PT to see which houseguests receive the fewest votes and find themselves in immediate danger.

For an exciting look into the new season, watch Big Brother Canada’s Supersized Season 8 Preview with ET Canada airing Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. ET Canada’s one-hour special features interviews with this season’s new houseguests, a catchup with Season 7 winner Dane Rupert in his hometown of Kelowna, B.C., an exclusive tour of the new BBCAN8 house led by host Arisa Cox, and a special sneak peek into this season’s theme.

Meet the 16 houseguests entering the BBCAN 8 house and competing for the grand prize of $100,000, $10,000 worth of groceries courtesy of Summer Fresh, and an unforgettable dream vacation for two anywhere in the world from Expedia:

Big Brother Canada’s two-night premiere airs Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. ET/PT and Thursday, March 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the dramatic fallout on Sunday, March 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes continue to air Wednesdays (7 p.m. ET/PT), Thursdays (8 p.m. ET/PT), and Sundays (8 p.m. ET/PT).

What is your strategy going into the house? It depends on the people in the house. It’s a social game so I want to get a feel for the houseguests first. But ideally I want to form an alliance with three other people who are loyal and who I can rely on.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I’m a pretty unique person and I was myself. I wasn’t trying to be anybody else, and I think they appreciated that.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? Not having any privacy and being filmed 24 hours a day with a mic on – it’s jarring and daunting. But I’m willing to take on the challenge!

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? As a very smart, cunning, and strong competitor.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? I’m definitely going on a few trips because I love to travel. I also want to start a business – so I would invest in myself and take a few courses. Oh! and get my driver’s license. [laughs]

My biggest pet peeve is: narrow-minded and ignorant people.

My biggest fear is: drowning in the ocean.

My typical Sunday is: yoga, hang out with a friend, and relax.

I geek out on: astrology.

Most spontaneous thing I’ve done is: There’s too many! But one would be I booked a one-way ticket to Guatemala and had no plans. I met my friend in the middle of the jungle!

If I could only eat one thing in the house, it would be: steak – I’m a carnivore.

A fact about me that surprises people is: I’m actually camera shy. Everyone knows that if you want to film me, you have to be slick about it because I will have a fit.

I get along best with people who: are non-judgmental.

My most used emoji is: 😂

My idol or hero is: Josephine Baker.

My mantra is: feel the fear and do it anyway.

A personal accomplishment I am most proud of is: moving to Vietnam with $300 and living there for two years. I taught English, drove a motorbike, and learned Vietnamese.

What is your strategy going into the house? I’d love to align with strong women but it also really depends on who’s in the house because I also get along well with guys. So for the first few days, I’m going to go with the flow and see who I’m comfortable with and go from there.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I’m energetic, loud, and outgoing. I’m also not afraid of what people think of me, and I’m not afraid to tell people what I think of them.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? Being away from my family and siblings. I lean on them so much in my everyday life – I talk to them 24/7.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? Someone who is not afraid to give it their all and go for it 100%.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? I’m a huge superfan so I’m more focused on the title of winning Big Brother Canada – it would mean so much to me.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? Because I’m handsome, charismatic, and confident.

What is your strategy going into the house? My ideal scenario is starting a five-person alliance with athletic people and be the brains behind it while running the gauntlet. At the beginning, I’d like to get out the smarter players and make it to the final five with strictly physical players – I’d rather battle those houseguests than the more intellectual ones.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? Well, in addition to being this season’s eye candy [laughs], I think I’m a fun guy, I’m pretty athletic, and I can hopefully win some comps. I’m here for a good time!

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? Omg, maybe the slop?! I’m such a picky eater as it is. I also love to game at home, so not having any technology is going to be an absolute battle.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? Anything but a floater – I have to make some game moves. I also hope I’m remembered fondly and as someone people like. But hey, if I’m a villain who ends up winning, I’ll take that too.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? I still live at home with my parents so firstly, I would move out which would be ideal. Secondly, I’d like to pay them back for some of my University schooling and pay it forward. After that, take a trip with some of the most important people in my life.

My biggest pet peeve is: people who drive with white headlights.

My biggest fear is: wasps – I’m deathly afraid.

My typical Sunday is: sleep in, hit the gym, veg out, play video games, and go to men’s league basketball.

I geek out on: video games, superheroes, and movies.

Most spontaneous thing I’ve done is: applying to Big Brother Canada.

If I could only eat one thing in the house, it would be: bananas.

A fact about me that surprises people is: I was the valedictorian of my high school and was on the Dean’s list in University.

I get along best with people who: are athletic and share similar interests.

My most used emoji is: the tiger [insert emoji]

My idol or hero is: Paul Rudd.

My mantra is: you can’t win ‘em all!

A personal accomplishment I am most proud of is: moving away to go to school by myself at 18 years old, and then at 20, moving 10 hours North to work in Fort St. John.

What is your strategy going into the house? I really want to experience every single part of BBCAN – have a showmance, eat slop, win a veto, win an HOH, make an alliance – I want to endure everything I’ve studied from this game and enjoy it all.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? My personality can be very big, and I think it’s bigger than I realize. BBCAN is great at choosing big personalities that viewers can relate to, and I think I’m relatable too.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? Being away from my nieces and nephews – I’m super aunty and with them all the time! It won’t be the game itself, it’ll be the moments in the house that I’m thinking about them and missing my babies.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? I want people to get to know me and the good qualities of my personality. I’m a caring person, but also super entertaining. I want people to remember my big moves and relationships that I hopefully make in the game. I want to be memorable in every capacity.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? Move out of my parents’ home and buy a house of my own. I’d also share the cash prize with my family and give back to them as they’ve supported me throughout my whole life.

What is your strategy going into the house? Enter the house and have great conversations with four or five people before the first HOH – which I want to cream and win! Then if I win, I’ll have the pick of the litter for the season and have a lot of say in how the season plays out. I also want to fool everybody. As a fisherman, I believe people won’t see me as a mastermind manipulator. I want to use that to my advantage, gain trust from the houseguests and get them on my side.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? For starters, no one from P.E.I. has ever played Big Brother Canada so I think that is a big part of it. I’m so excited to be the first person from my island to play! Also, I live a different life than most people being a female lobster fisherman in a male dominated industry. I also work on cruise ships and travel the world, so I think that makes me stand out.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? If I don’t win!

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? As the person who surprised everybody and was able to fool them into thinking I’m one type of person, when I’m much more than that.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? I just bought a house last year and live alone so I would put a lot of it towards my mortgage and go on a really cool trip.

My biggest pet peeve is: people that shush me.

My biggest fear is: being normal.

My typical Sunday is: fishing, four-wheeling, and drinking beer.

I geek out on: Big Brother Canada!

Most spontaneous thing I’ve done is: when I first got my job on a cruise ship, I had never flown or travelled before. I left on Christmas morning at 6 a.m., so that was pretty spontaneous.

If I could only eat one thing in the house, it would be: lobster.

A fact about me that surprises people is: that I’m not a dumb fisherman.

I get along best with people who: are loud and intense like I am.

My biggest pet peeve is: chewing sounds.

My biggest fear is: being murdered by a serial killer…I watch far too much true crime.

My typical Sunday is: spending time with my family and time outdoors.

What is your strategy going into the house? A combination of winning competitions and socially influencing as many people as possible. I want to be a source of stability, comfort, and trust for houseguests who may be a little on edge, uncomfortable, or are floaters. I’ll be subtle in my approach and not bring too much attention to myself.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I think there’s some intrigue with me. Firstly, there’s my physical size, which is pretty obvious by looking at me. Secondly, if you look a little bit deeper, I’m not just this guy who works out, I have a brain and that’s what I do for a living as a brain transformation specialist.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? I’m going to enter the house with a Spartan attitude – I’m ready for anything that BBCAN throws at me. However, being removed from society, locked in a house, and not being the architect of everything thing I do, is definitely going to be a lifestyle change and a challenge.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? A big competitor, but more importantly, someone who’s passionate and connects with houseguests and someone that viewers can get behind.

What is your strategy going into the house? At the start of the game, I want to gain trust from as many people as possible and rely on my social skills. I want to get to know everybody on a personal level and be a listening board. Then, as the game progresses, I’ll rely on my physical and competitive skills to take myself further.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? As the first turban-wearing Sikh houseguest, I believe I represent one of the many different sides of Canadian multiculturalism. I’m also a big fan of the show and can be very competitive.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? I’m going to miss my wife and my two-year-old daughter – I’m going to miss them to pieces! Being detached from the outside world and disconnected from my family will be hard.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? As one of the best players in Big Brother Canada history who played an honest and integral game. I also want to be someone that had a hand in many decisions and be that wing-person to the HOH.

What is your strategy going into the house? To be myself as much as possible while adapting to my environment and being extremely social. I want to be very fluent with everyone so houseguests know where my head is at.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I think I have many tools that apply to the show – the social aspect, being physically demanding, and strong mental skills. I think those are all the skills required for Big Brother Canada.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? I can’t specify one thing to be difficult, but having to socialize the entire day to better myself in the game, and being mentally locked in the entire game which could last up to a few months, that could be challenging, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? As somebody who tried their best to do their best in the house.

What is your strategy going into the house? Going into the house, the first dilemma I’ll have is whether I should throw the first HOH comp or really go for it. The competitive side in me wants to go for it but I don’t want to be seen as a target so I’ll see how I feel in the moment.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I never thought of myself as someone that people would want to watch but I think it might have something to do with my career in the military. It makes me unique.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? In your day-to-day life, when you have conflict with someone, you have the option to leave it and walk away. But when you’re restricted to a certain square footage, you can’t walk away from that person, so you have to maintain those relationships.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? Competitive and good-natured, as hard as that might be in the house, and definitely make it to the final three. I also have the opportunity to represent the whole military.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? My family runs an animal rescue back home and one of the main facilities that we’re missing is an indoor dog shelter that’s heated. So, if I win, I want to contribute they money towards the shelter. I also want to take my nana to Europe, and then with the rest of the prize money I would invest.

My biggest pet peeve is: complaining.

My biggest fear is: not performing.

My typical Sunday is: being lazy.

I geek out on: Reading up on things very thoroughly. I know some useless and random facts!

What is your strategy going into the house? I think it’s important to be adaptable but I’m also counting on being underestimated. Although I am quite good socially – good at building relationships and trust – I can also come across a bit awkward so people won’t see me as a threat.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I don’t think there’s been somebody like me on the show before because I am quite charismatic but I’m also awkward. I’ve got high energy but I’m also collected and self-aware. So, I think those qualities will reflect interestingly on TV.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? Not knowing what’s going on in the world. It’s going to be very jarring to come out and wonder what’s happened in my personal life with my family and what’s happened around the globe.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? As someone who is strategic because that’s something I’ve liked the most about players that have been memorable to me. It’s also the part of the show that I’ve always been connected with.

What is your strategy going into the house? I want to be competitive but I don’t want to show that side of me side right off the bat, so instead I want to work my social game. Then when I need to, I’ll start winning competitions and use my athletic abilities to do so.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I think my outgoing and fiery personality really enabled me to land the show. I’m very social and adaptable and can use that to my advantage.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? I come from a big close-knit Italian family, so I think being away from them will definitely be hard for me.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? Badass, cutthroat, and not scared to make big moves. I also want to be honest but able to lie when I need to.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? I would take my family on a vacation, give my cousin a really nice wedding gift, and invest in some property.

Relationship Status: Married

What is your strategy going into the house? Perception is reality in the BBCAN house – especially at the start of the game. If you look at me, I’m a bigger, muscular guy. So, I want to work hard at the beginning to get along with all sides of the house. I want to appear as “good guy” Kyle, a husband and dad, instead of super competitive Kyle.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I’m a pretty eccentric individual who’s competitive, entertaining, and emotional. I’m also someone who speaks his mind, but will lie when I need to. Overall, I also think I’m a pretty relatable person.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? I’m a really emotional person and if someone taps into that quickly, they could potentially manipulate me in the game.

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? Somebody who played from start to finish, and didn’t take their foot off the gas. I don’t want to crumble and quit if I get back-doored or put on the block. I want to be known as someone who played until the end, whether I get evicted or win.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? Pay the debt that I’ve accrued! But also put some money away for my kids’ future and take my wife on a much-deserved vacation.

My biggest pet peeve is: toes.

My biggest fear is: heights.

My typical Sunday is: working out with some friends and coming home to have a nice family meal.

What is your strategy going into the house? Because it’s a numbers game at the beginning, align with a five or six person alliance on the first or second day. Then within that group, find that one person I can trust and become my ride or die and play to the end together.

Why do you think you were selected to be on BBCAN8? I’m a really bubbly, outgoing person, and I get along with most personalities. I also think they liked my vibe and energy I exude.

What part of the Big Brother Canada experience do you think will be the hardest for you? Being away from my family, friends, dogs, and cat. Also, not having my phone is going to be really hard – I already miss it!

How do you want people to remember you as a player on BBCAN? As a fun, energetic person that never gives up during competitions. As a tennis player, I think I’ll bring my competitive mentality to the house.

If you win Big Brother Canada, how would you spend the cash prize? I currently still live at home and just turned 30, so I would put a down payment on a house and give a portion to an animal rescue I work closely with.

My biggest pet peeve is: slow drivers.

My biggest fear is: losing my family and friends.

My typical Sunday is: spending time at the dog park.

I geek out on: Big Brother Canada!

Most spontaneous thing I’ve done is: booking a last minute vacation to Montenegro.
